About Feist-Weiller Cancer Center

Our Facilities

Feist-Weiller Cancer Center provides cancer prevention, testing, and treatment services at
Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana (LSUHSC-S). 

Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is a multidisciplinary Cancer Center with more than 55 faculty in nine different departments, and employs more than 250 staff. The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program is one of the largest in the Southeast United States with 15 fellows and is the major provider of oncologists to communities throughout Louisiana. In addition, the School of Graduate Studies has about 135 doctoral students enrolled in the Departments of Microbiology and Immunology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Physiology and Molecular Medicine, Anatomy and Cell Biology, and Pharmacology. 

Feist-Weiller Cancer Center has divisions of Basic and Translational Cancer Research, Clinical Cancer Research, and Cancer Prevention and Control. Dedicated inpatient units are for general oncology, blood and marrow transplantation (both autologous and allogeneic, including matched unrelated transplants), and for the various surgical specialties that include Surgical Oncology, Head and Neck Cancer, and Gynecologic Cancer. 

More than 2,500 outpatient visits happen monthly in the new multidisciplinary Cancer Center building, which occupies 65,000 square feet and provides nearly all services required for the care of cancer patients, including:

  • Hematology, oncology and blood and marrow transplant clinics;
  • Otolaryngology and surgical oncology clinics;
  • An oncology pharmacy that includes a research pharmacy;
  • Chemotherapy center;
  • Outpatient surgical and endoscopy suites;
  • Radiology, including breast imaging, computerized tomography (CT), and radiation therapy;
  • National Cancer Institute designated MB-Community Clinical Oncology Program (MB-CCOP) for clinical trials research;
  • St Jude Children’s Research Hospital affiliated Children’s Cancer Center, situated in the new building with a separate entrance, waiting area, and exam and treatment areas specifically designed for the comfort and care of children with cancer and their families;
  • Arts In Medicine program to treat the mind and spirit, while beautifying our Cancer Center with works of art created by our patients.

Feist-Weiller Cancer Center’s dedicated multidisciplinary team of oncologists, hematologists, surgeons, radiologists, nurses, researchers, coordinators, educators, residents, fellows, pharmacists, computer technologists and volunteers provide state-of-the-art cancer care through clinical and translational research, screening and early diagnosis programs, and education. 

Additional services available to cancer patients at the adjacent Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center include:

  • Comprehensive diagnostic anatomic and molecular pathology, chemistry, microbiology, special hematology, and other laboratories to provide complete services for diagnosis and assessment;
  • Radiation therapy;
  • Blood banking;
  • PET scans;
  • Gamma knife.  

Feist-Weiller Cancer Center sponsors the community Partners in Wellness health screening and education program.  Partners in Wellness is a free health screening program open to all citizens in North Louisiana that do not receive routine health screenings for cancer or cardiovascular diseases.

Feist-Weiller Cancer Center physicians also provide cancer treatment services at E. A. Conway Hospital in Monroe, La., at DeSoto Regional Hospital in Mansfield, La., and at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport. 

The facilities and services available through Feist-Weiller Cancer Center provide both pediatric and adult patients with the most advanced technology for cancer research, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
